Productos Hospitalarios S.A. is one of Colombia’s leading pharmaceutical distribution and logistics companies, providing medical supplies and medications to hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies across the country.
With more than 180 points of sale and nationwide distribution, ProH plays a vital role in ensuring medication availability and healthcare supply chain efficiency.
The Challenge
Before partnering with Tagnara, ProH faced serious operational fragmentation. Each department — from purchasing to HR, accounting, and inventory — used isolated systems or spreadsheets. This lack of integration caused duplicate entries, stock discrepancies, and manual bottlenecks that affected decision-making and cash flow.
Inventory losses exceeded $200 million COP per month, mostly due to outdated reconciliation methods and a lack of real-time product tracking. Warehouse staff could not accurately monitor expiration dates or dispatch times, and managers lacked centralized visibility across 180 national sites.
Additionally, ProH’s growth had outpaced its technology infrastructure, leading to inconsistent data between the dispensing system and financial management modules. Leadership needed a unified, intelligent platform capable of automating operations end-to-end — from suppliers to patients.
What Did
Tagnara Do
Between 2018 and 2019, Tagnara designed and deployed a comprehensive digital transformation strategy, developing a unified ERP + Supply Chain Management platform.
Our team performed a process reengineering analysis of every department, mapping workflows and identifying automation opportunities.
The implementation included:
Automated inventory management powered by IoT sensors for temperature and stock level monitoring.
Smart purchasing algorithms that predict stock replenishment needs based on historical sales and consumption.
Full integration of accounting, HR, payroll, and warehouse management in one system.
Real-time dashboards built on Power BI for financial, operational, and logistics insights.
Implementation of pharmacy and medication sales modules across all dispensaries, fully integrated with supplier networks.
The deployment was completed in phases to ensure business continuity — first in the warehouse and finance areas, later extending to HR and pharmacy operations.
The Results
- Over $200M COP saved monthly by eliminating inventory losses.
- 100% traceability of stock, batch, and expiration data across the national network.
- 80% faster reconciliation between purchasing and inventory.
- Real-time visibility for executives through BI dashboards.
- A fully integrated company where every department now operates within the same digital ecosystem.
